Summer Session is a California native, who received her MFA in Directing at University of California - Irvine.  Summer received her B.A. in Theatre Arts at California State University, Fresno and an A.A in Theatre Arts at Fresno City College. She has had the privilege of working in both the technical and performance aspects of Theatre Arts. However, through her studies she found her true passion; directing.
   
At the moment she is a faculty instructor in the Theatre department at Fresno City College. She specializes in directing but teaches courses ranging from beginning acting to intermediate, theatre appreciation and many more. She runs the theatre department cabarets and coaches/prepares students who will be competing in the 
Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival, Region 8.     

She is a recipient of many scholarships and awards. Most recent accomplishments are the Medici Scholarship and the Inclusive Excellence Ambassador Award. As well as being awarded a member of the Dean's list while at both Fresno City College, California State University, Fresno and University of California - Irvine.
          
Summer is drawn to language driven works and the horror genre on stage. She is skilled at directing all types of plays. Some of her best works have been character driven classics and hard hitting plots with a message for the audience. She is also working as a playwright to tell more important stories and adapt and translate classical works. 
          
Summer is the type of director who enjoys emerging the audience in a new experience or environment. She loves collaborating with many different types of artist. Drawing inspiration from paintings, sculptures and the world around her, she uses all these elements and more to create art for the stage.  She prides herself in being able to work with talented and hard-working actors who will allow her to shape and mold their ideas and styles to fit her overall concept. She is passionate about her work and appreciates, admires, and comprehends all the work that goes into producing a play. Summer is always looking for new plays and project to dive into. She hopes to continue growing as a director and person with her community.
